A single seed
With but water and light,
Germinates in soil
Before my very sight.
Outstretched are its arms
Breaking from the ground,
Praising God above
For life it has found.
The seedling stretches tall
By God’s amazing grace;
Its verdant leaves grow
As sunshine they embrace.
Behold this design,
One of God’s own hand,
Yea, we see His perfection
Throughout the green land.
For as flowers blossom,
As plants do grow,
The magnificence of God
These creatures show.
Am I not like them,
These plants around me?
May my growth too
Bring my God glory.
Did I not grow
From but a single cell?
Yet complex is my being,
More than words can tell.
As flowers in the garden,
As plants in the field,
Glorious life I know
When all to God I yield.
I outstretch my arms,
God’s grace does abound;
I praise my Jesus,
For life in Him I found.
A simple seed nourished
With Living Water and Light,
I grow for God’s glory,
Forever His by His might.

Purposeful Pathway
Let your light so shine before men,
that they may see your good works,
and glorify your Father
which is in heaven.
