When we become one in our pain
What then,
If we are one in our gain
What then.
What becomes of a marriage as one
What becomes of a family as one,
What becomes of a community as one
What becomes of a nation as one.
One for the past,
One for today
One for tomorrow
One to last.
One to what
One to say,
One to Whom
As one to pray.
One can only be one in love
There is none other to surpass,
That joins as one together,
In creed, in color and in class.
One in God, as one to trust,
The One to heal when all is dark.
Who died to make us one
One with liberated heart.
To speak one word of love
And one warm kindness share,
For hope as one forever
Then lift as one to care.
We cry as one hearbroken soul
And mourn to all unite,
We trust as one in faith
Then live in one eternal life.
