Sitting on the terrace, and a summer breeze
Scent of roses reminds me of earlier times
When Mama and Grandma tended to their rose gardens.
How I miss those times with them, and watched them kneeling
pruning, trimming and tilling the soil so perfectly.

Roses always take me back to my childhood
We had vases full of all sorts of flowers all summer
Peaceful times, slower times on the terrace
Not much traffic on our street in those days
Resting, listening to the birds and animals rustle

Dogs and children playing, parents calling them home
We always heard our parents say the streetlights are on.
No school all summer, just time for play, swim and rest
Sometimes taking a ride in a parents convertible on a hot
summer's night. Feeling like a millionaire, hair flowing
in the air of a back seat of a red Ford convertible!

Today we watch the roller skater's passing by,
and people of all ages on bikes, some just walking
Exercise is good for the heart, mind and spirit
Looking forward to the Summer's Breeze,
and all of God's blessings from the sun.

May you be blessed with Summer's excitement.

Poetry by Joyce

For you have need of endurance, so that when
you have done the will of God, you may receive
what was promised.
