Closer to You, Lord Jesus,
I do long to be,
Closer to You, Beloved,
For all eternity.
Closer to Your heart,
Make me loving like You,
Giving of myself,
As You always do.
Closer to Your steps,
Let me walk them each day,
Treading upon Your path,
Following Your way.
Closer to Your eyes,
Allow my own to shine,
That I may see those things
Eternal and divine.
Closer to Your Cross,
Your love I forever see,
No sweeter love do I know
Than Your love on Calvary.
Take me closer to You,
Only You I long to know,
Bind me to Your heart,
Always with You I do go.
Closer to You I am now,
Growing more like You,
To give of myself,
This, Lord, I vow to do.
Yes, close to You, Jesus,
I rejoice I will be,
By Your amazing grace
I am Yours eternally.
