Restored Hope

When Mary stooped down to look in the tomb
she no doubt expected to see.
A man that was scourged unmercifully
and nailed to a cross from a tree.

What thoughts must have raced through her mind
as her eyes searched the empty tomb.
Her heart was pounding, her breathing was short
as she gazed at the empty room.

Where have they taken my precious Lord,
have they come and carried him away.
Then her eyes fell upon a man
and she didn't know what to say.

Then Jesus said, woman why weepest thou,
as He saw her stand and cry.
Those tender words were all that she needed,
for then she knew that the Master was nigh.

Oh! the joy that filled her heart,
she would tell the others soon.
Hope was restored as all were made glad
because of the empty room.
