Not far from the cross stands an empty tomb
the stone from the door is long time gone.
The Savior arose and is alive today
death couldn't hold Him as He still lives on.

The borrowed tomb was hewed from a stone
it was sad as they left Him there all alone.
An angel was standing not far from the cross
waiting to free Him so He could go home.

His followers came to prepare Him for death
but on arrival there was waiting a surprise.
The tomb was empty, cold, and damp,
the Lord had kept His promise, He did arise.

He made a way for the world to be saved
He willingly died to pay the cost.
If you ever have doubt just look at the tomb
it is standing empty not far from the cross.
