Easter in Iraq
The sun beats down on the sands of Iraq
Our young solders fighting back
At night they write letters to their loved one
Never knowing if it will be the last chat
Their sweethearts, wife's, mothers,
And their little children they leave,
How do they let them know,
It may be the final time they speak
On Easter day while all the family and friends
Try to have a good Easter time
Young men walk on the sand,
Praying they do not step on a mine
On this special day,
The gifts are sent in such beautiful ways
So do not think of the mud on their clothes
Or the fright on their face
For in the name of freedom, they sing
Deep within, their gift of peace can be found
At Easter they will still hear the church bells ring
They know the hope of Easter always abounds
Making life easier to go on
With their faith in God's love to rest upon
May 2006 bring an end to the war
Our soldiers keep shining, they know their call.
