Wistfully, I think of you
Wistfully I dream,
Tenderly, I miss you so
Wondering how you've been.
Quietly I muse away
Of all the love we share,
Contentedly I thank our God
For all your tender loving care.
Sentimental then, I think
Of how we'd like to meet,
To chat and reminisce and laugh
To make our days complete.
Abstractly in another plane
I imagine flying there,
Ringing of your doorbell
A surprise beyond compare.
All amazed you'd welcome me in
And right there I would stay,
If there were only two of me
I'd be with you every day.
....and I would bring for you a rose
A fragrant rose for you alone

And what a blessing you have truly been,
as you reach so far
across the great horizon
my dear friend.
