We were inspired by their courage, the determination, might, The struggle for the glory- the tenacity to fight. We felt for them in failure, flinching when they fell, Admired them for attempting- to display their talent well. We held our breath when scores teetered on the brink, Then accepted every outcome- all over in a blink. We walked with walkers striding and spun in gymnasts skill, Swam marathons and hurdled- and hoped on every hill. But did we feel inadequate while lifted on the heights, Did we long to be so muscular- to see the thrilling lights. Never, ever should we feel so for brave we are, to race, Each day we spend in training- developing in grace. Hurdling around the track of life, dancing pirouettes our own, God, Our Father, Coach- cheering us along. We all are winning heroes when Jesus is our Lord, For all His might is ours- He is the great award. He's placed us on His podium His wreathe upon our brow, His wealth adorns our necks- as before His cross we bow. Endurance is His gift, the tenacity, His love, The lasting gold and silver- all ours to keep above. ~**~
