I love Giraffes Do You

Who made the big tall giraffe
God did that's who,
And I love giraffes don't you?
Not just their elegant neck
And long legs that run so fast
But soft ears so very cute.

And don't you love those horny bits
Oh, such fun to draw,
Then there's all those yellow spots
Wonder what they're for.

And don't we think it rather neat
That they can stretch to eat,
The leaves so high to chew
Too far for most to reach.

But, the best bit is the funny way
They stick their long neck out to say,
From the bend until the very end.
Anytime you need a smile
I'll be your gentle friend.

Best of all is it to preserve everything in a pure,
still heart,
and let there be for every pulse a thanksgiving,
and for every breath a song.
Konrad von Gesner

Sweet souls around us watch us still,
Press nearer to our sides;
Into our thoughts, into our prayers,
With gentle helpings glide.
Harriet Beecher Stowe
