Candles In Our Hearts

There are candles in my eyes
I see two buildings in flames
The tears are in my eyes
For the memories I hold in my heart
Dear Jesus, give me the strength
To carry on my life

September 11, 2001, I see all I have lost
In the stars, I see them shine bright
My world will not end
You are the candles in the night
Never can you die, because for freedom you stand

I hear your cry, up in the sky
Father, mother, sister, brother, or a good friend
You are all the happiness I had
I cannot change the past, yet my love will always last

When the candle went out, there was silent, so wide
I will keep you in my heart
My soul becomes your very life
There is not a day that goes away
On September 11, 2001, that terrible day
I will keep the candle, I must let the pain die
I will remember every one, even those I do not know
God took them to Heaven where the candles glow
Life is eternal, on earth we remain and forget the suffering
I will live, with your names on my lips
And a candle in my heart.

Candles never die. They live in Heaven
and we on earth carry candles in our hearts
