Our Promised Land
We have heard of the stories of the Israelites' past,
How after a forty year journey, it had ended at last.
They now entered a land where they'd find peace and true rest,
And they rejoiced when they realized just how much they've been blessed.
God gave them a promise, and it's one He did keep,
He proved Himself faithful, even when waters ran deep.
He divided the sea, and they walked on dry ground,
Until they arrived on the other side, each one safe and sound.
Though their journey seemed endless, and they faced struggles each day,
God's presence was ever with them, and He always made a way.
Many times they had failed Him, yet He forgave and led them through,
He brought them to that Promised Land, just like He said He would do.
We, too, are on a journey, for we are strangers in a foreign place,
We'll know we've reached our destination, when we see our Savior's face.
For this earth is not our home, we have something greater yet in store,
A place compared to none other, where pain and suffering will be no more.
Just as the children of Israel, we'll experience years of trials and strife,
But we know that if we keep walking with Him, we have the promise of eternal life.
Jesus said He's preparing us mansions, and we'll dwell with Him in a life yet to be,
Oh the joy that will then fill our hearts, when His glory we shall finally see!
Our lives now are nothing but a vapor; quickly it vanishes as the Bible did say,
Temporal things should not hold us captive, we must prepare for our final day.
When we come to the end of this lifetime, then Jesus will take us by the hand,
He'll be walking right there beside us, as we finally enter in to our promised land.
