This morning as the world lay sleeping
I sat and watched the eastern sky
Colors of coral, lavender and gold,
White and grays caught my eye.
How I marveled as I watched
The changing of the scene
As the colors slowly faded
And only gray skies could be seen.
Then I heard the thunder roll,
I felt the drops of rain
And over in the eastern sky
All was darkness once again.
But I thanked God for the blessing
That I had been there to see
The beauty that He painted
And placed there just for me.
And I thanked Him for the rain
A blessing on our arid land,
A reprieve from the heat of summer,
Morning blessings from His mighty hand.

that is within me, bless his holy name.
