The Fire of God

Once God dwelt within a temple
Where His people's sin would burn
They were afraid
Of this place He made
The holiness of God to learn

Now God has another temple
Where His fire may burn
Yet, are we afraid
Of the new heart within He made
The holiness of God to learn

Who am I then, to be a temple
A place for GOD to burn
My heart no more my own
But His alone
The holiness of God to learn.

Oh Lord, make of me combustible
So You can burn in me
To be a place
To show Your Face
The holiness of God to see.

Worship is the submission of all our nature to God.
It is the quickening of conscience by his holiness,
the nourishment of the mind with his truth, the
purifying of the imagination of his beauty, the
opening of the heart to his love, the surrender of
the will to his purpose.
William Temple

From every pulpit in the land it needs to be
thundered forth that God still lives, that God
still observes, ... still reigns. Faith is now
in the crucible, it is being tested by fire,
and there is no fixed... resting place for the
heart and mind but in the Throne of God.
What is needed now, as never before, is a full,
positive, constructive setting forth of the
Godhood of God.
