A Yellow Ribbon for My Soldier

Oh, we do, we do want you...to come home to stay,
But if God has another plan, we'll keep on being brave every day.
Oh how dearly we wish..you were with us here,
Home in our hearts, with nothing to fear.

How much we want to hold you...close and never let you go,
To keep you from harm, no more cruelty to know.
We wish we could be there to comfort you in all your hurt,
To lift you out of the struggle where your emotions are being burnt.
But, you have such courage..brave loyalty in your heart,
A call to be a blessing, that keeps us apart.
So, while we miss you so..our hearts also beat with pride,
As we have memorial day this year, without you by our side.

But, in spirit you are here..just as if you never went away,
For this bountiful love we share, means you will ever stay.
Close, held close, never to part..bound together with unseen force,
God's eternal love, flows as a powerful keeping source.
Each day we wake and pray you are kept safe,
Concern for you sure tries our faith,
But as we trust, we are learning to set you free,
For all of life you are compelled to see.

God brought you into our lives so long ago,
For more of amazing love to know
We thankyou dear one..for all you have to give,
Go forth therefore with your heart of compassion and freely live.
God planned your life long before you were born,
Each day of service He gives you is already formed
So every special footprint you leave behind,
Stepped for your Father, is only of the lasting worthwhile kind.

We send you our blessing, we send you our love
We send our moment by moment prayer... to God above,
To surround your heart with His sweetest inner joy,
In our hearts, you'll always be our darling soldier boy.
The ribbon may fade a little, but if it blows away it will be replaced
and the light will be glowing forever...until the day we see your face.
