Thankful Hearts
After the harvest we all enjoy Thanksgiving Day
We gather all that grows, corn, pumpkin and squash
And the turkey that was fattened by the farmer
The turkey is soaked in a salt-water wash
We bake our pies and prepare our food
We invite family and friends to celebrate
Create our stuffing with all seasonings
Extend invitations so all will congregate
Enjoy conversations with folks we don't often see
At home where there is safety and love
Happiness fills our hearts and souls
Folded hands in thankful praise to Our Lord above
We are exuberant with grateful prayers
For all blessings bestowed on us
Thank you Lord on this special day and,
we share with those in need from our success

And let the peace of God rule in your hearts
and be ye thankful.
