Jesus sat alone that day, waiting by Jacob's well.
Even though thirsty, He didn't take a drink.
Rather, He waited for a woman to come by,
who was hurting, and on the brink.
He knew all about her problems,
the many husbands that she has had.
He explained to her about His living water,
and how she needed it, instead.
Her heart was confused, but filled with love
which she had never known before.
She knew this Stranger was anointed,
and yearned to know even more.
He comforted her with His compassion,
and counseled her, with wisdom divine.
She couldn't wait to go tell the others,
and left her water jar behind.
She spread the news all around town,
and brought some back to see.
The Prophet, the Savior, the Messiah,
this Man, from Galilee.
Her heart was changed, her faith restored,
She no longer thirsted for the water in the well.
She had received a drink of the living water,
and she went about, carrying the good news to tell.
