~ What A Wonderful Savior ~

I. Jesus is our Wonderful Counselor
1. He counsels us on how to forgive.
(MATT. 18:21-22 ) "THEN PETER CAME TO HIM AND SAID,
LORD, HOW OFTEN SHALL MY BROTHER SIN AGAINST ME, AND
I FORGIVE HIM? UP TO SEVEN TIMES?' JESUS SAID TO HIM,
I DO NOT SAY TO YOU, UP TO SEVEN TIMES, BUT UP TO
SEVENTY TIMES SEVEN."

2. He counsels us on marriage.
(MATT. 19:5-6,9) "AND SAID, FOR THIS REASON A
MAN SHALL LEAVE HIS FATHER AND MOTHER AND BE
JOINED TO HIS WIFE, AND THE TWO SHALL BECOME
ONE FLESH. SO THEN, THEY ARE NO LONGER TWO
BUT ONE FLESH. THEREFORE, WHAT GOD HAS JOINED
TOGETHER, LET MAN NOT SEPARATE. AND I SAY TO
YOU, WHO EVER DIVORCES HIS WIFE, EXCEPT FOR
SEXUAL IMMORALITY, AND MARRIES ANOTHER,
COMMITS ADULTERY; AND WHOEVER MARRIES HER
WHO IS DIVORCED COMMITS ADULTERY."

3. He counsels us on how to get to Heaven.
(MATT. 16:24) "THEN JESUS SAID TO HIS DISCIPLES,
IF ANYONE DESIRES TO COME AFTER ME, LET HIM DENY
HIMSELF, AND TAKE UP HIS CROSS, AND FOLLOW ME."
(MATT. 19:21) "JESUS SAID, IF YOU WANT TO BE PERFECT, GO,
SELL WHAT YOU HAVE AND GIVE TO THE POOR, AND YOU WILL
HAVE TREASURE IN HEAVEN, AND COME, FOLLOW ME."

4. Jesus counsels us on how to serve our
fellow man by example.
(JOHN 13:14-17) "IF I THEN, YOUR LORD AND TEACHER, HAVE
WASHED YOUR FEET, YOU ALSO OUGHT TO WASH ONE ANOTHER'S FEET.
FOR I HAVE GIVEN YOU AN EXAMPLE, THAT YOU SHOULD DO AS I
HAVE DONE TO YOU. MOST ASSUREDLY, I SAY TO YOU, A
SERVANT IS NOT GREATER THAN HIS MASTER, NOR IS HE
WHO IS SENT GREATER THAN HE WHO SENT HIM. IF YOU KNOW
THESE THINGS, BLESSED ARE YOU IF YOU DO THEM."

5. Jesus counsels us on Eternal Life.
(MATT. 19:29) AND EVERYONE WHO HAS LEFT HOUSES OR
BROTHERS OR SISTERS OR FATHER OR MOTHER OR WIFE OR
CHILDREN OR LANDS, FOR MY NAME'S SAKE, SHALL RECEIVE
A HUNDREDFOLD, AND INHERIT ETERNAL LIFE."

II. Jesus has given us Joy.
1. As long as we abide in Him, He will bring us joy.
(JOHN 15:11) "THESE THINGS I HAVE SPOKEN TO YOU,
THAT MY JOY MAY REMAIN
IN YOU, AND THAT YOUR JOY MAY BE FULL."

2. This is a promise from Jesus for believers.
(JOHN 16:24 "UNTIL NOW YOU HAVE ASKED NOTHING
IN MY NAME. ASK, AND YOU WILL RECEIVE,
THAT YOUR JOY MAY BE FULL."

3. Even the Wise Men had great joy when they knew
of the birth of Jesus.
(MATT. 2:10) "WHEN THEY SAW THE STAR,
THEY REJOICED WITH EXCEEDINGLY GREAT JOY."

4. A promise fulfilled.
Jesus arose from the dead.
(MATT. 28:8) "SO THEY WENT OUT QUICKLY
FROM THE TOMB WITH FEAR AND GREAT JOY,
AND RAN TO BRING HIS DISCIPLES WORD."

5. Jesus has given us Peace.
(JOHN 16:33) "THESE THINGS I HAVE SPOKEN TO YOU,
THAT IN ME YOU MAY HAVE PEACE. IN THE WORLD YOU
WILL HAVE TRIBULATION; BUT BE OF GOOD CHEER, I
HAVE OVERCOME THE WORLD."

III. Jesus is the peace maker between the
Jew and the Gentile.
(EPH. 2:14,17) "FOR HE HIMSELF IS OUR PEACE, WHO
HAS MADE BOTH ONE, AND HAS BROKEN DOWN THE MIDDLE
WALL OF SEPARATION. AND HE CAME AND PREACHED PEACE
TO YOU WHO WERE AFAR OFF AND TO THOSE WHO WERE NEAR."

IV. We are complete in Him.
(COL. 2:9-10) "FOR IN HIM DWELLS ALL THE FULLNESS
OF THE GODHEAD BODILY; AND YOU ARE COMPLETE IN HIM,
WHO IS THE HEAD OF ALL PRINCIPALITY AND POWER."

V. Jesus gives us Strength.
(NEH. 8:10) "THEN HE SAID TO THEM, GO YOUR WAY, EAT
THE FAT, DRINK THE SWEET, AND SEND PORTIONS TO THOSE
FOR WHOM NOTHING IS PREPARED; FOR THIS DAY IS HOLY
TO OUR LORD. DO NOT SORROW, FOR THE JOY OF THE LORD
IS YOUR STRENGTH."

1. He is present in our daily lives.
(PSALM 46:1-3) "GOD IS OUR REFUGE AND STRENGTH,
A VERY PRESENT HELP IN TROUBLE. THEREFORE WE WILL
NOT FEAR, EVEN THOUGH THE EARTH BE REMOVED, AND
THOUGH THE MOUNTAINS BE CARRIED INTO THE MIDST OF
THE SEA, THOUGH ITS WATERS ROAR AND BE TROUBLED,
THOUGH THE MOUNTAINS SHAKE WITH ITS SWELLING."

2. Paul accepts his weakness (thorn in the flesh)
as an aid rather than a handicap.
(2 COR. 12:9-10) "AND HE SAID TO ME, 'MY GRACE IS
SUFFICIENT FOR YOU, FOR MY STRENGTH IS MADE PERFECT
IN WEAKNESS.' THEREFORE MOST GLADLY I WILL RATHER
BOAST IN MY INFIRMITIES, THAT THE POWER OF CHRIST
MAY REST UPON ME. THEREFORE I TAKE PLEASURE IN
INFIRMITIES, IN REPROACHES, IN NEEDS, IN PERSECUTIONS,
IN DISTRESSES, FOR CHRIST'S SAKE. FOR WHEN I AM WEAK,
THEN I AM STRONG."

3. A prayer for strength for the believers.
(EPH. 3:14-16) "FOR THIS REASON I BOW MY KNEES TO
THE FATHER OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST, FROM WHOM THE
WHOLE FAMILY IN HEAVEN AND EARTH IS NAMED, THAT HE
WOULD GRANT YOU, ACCORDING TO THE RICHES OF HIS GLORY,
TO BE STRENGTHENED WITH MIGHT THROUGH HIS SPIRIT IN
THE INNER MAN."

4. A positive attitude.
(PHIL. 4:13) "I CAN DO ALL THINGS THROUGH CHRIST
WHO STRENGTHENS ME."

VI. Jesus is Faithful.
(1 THESS. 5:24a) "HE WHO CALLS YOU IS FAITHFUL."
(2 THESS. 3:3) "BUT THE LORD IS FAITHFUL, WHO WILL
ESTABLISH YOU AND GUARD YOU FROM THE EVIL ONE."

1. Jesus remains true to Himself.
(2 TIM. 2:13) "IF WE ARE FAITHLESS, HE REMAINS
FAITHFUL; HE CANNOT DENY HIMSELF."

2. Jesus keeps His promises.
(HEB. 10:23) "LET US HOLD FAST THE CONFESSION OF OUR
HOPE WITHOUT WAVERING, FOR HE WHO PROMISED IS FAITHFUL."

3. Jesus became human, overcame temptation, and was
sacrificed for our sins on the cross.
(HEB. 2:17) "THEREFORE IN ALL THINGS HE HAD TO BE
MADE LIKE HIS BRETHREN, THAT HE MIGHT BE A MERCIFUL
AND FAITHFUL HIGH PRIEST IN THINGS PERTAINING TO GOD,
TO MAKE PROPITIATION FOR THE SINS OF THE PEOPLE."

VII. Jesus is our Comforter.
(REV. 21:4) "AND GOD WILL WIPE AWAY EVERY TEAR FROM
THEIR EYES; THERE SHALL BE NO MORE DEATH, NOR SORROW,
NOR CRYING. THERE SHALL BE NO MORE PAIN, FOR THE
FORMER THINGS HAVE PASSED AWAY."

1. Jesus sends a special Comforter to help us.
(The Holy Spirit)
(JOHN 14:15-16) "IF YOU LOVE ME, KEEP MY COMMANDMENTS.
AND I WILL PRAY THE FATHER, AND HE SHALL GIVE YOU
ANOTHER COMFORTER, THAT HE MAY ABIDE WITH YOU FOR EVER."

2. We receive our comfort through Him.
(JOHN 14:1) "LET NOT YOUR HEART BE TROUBLED;
YOU BELIEVE IN GOD, BELIEVE ALSO IN ME."

VIII. Jesus died in our place.
(ROMANS 5:8) "BUT GOD DEMONSTRATES HIS OWN LOVE
TOWARD US, IN THAT WHILE WE WERE STILL SINNERS,
CHRIST DIED FOR US."
(2 COR. 5:21) "FOR HE MADE HIM WHO KNEW NO SIN
TO BE SIN FOR US, THAT WE MIGHT BECOME THE
RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD IN HIM."
(JOHN 10:11) "I AM THE GOOD SHEPHERD. THE GOOD
SHEPHERD GIVES HIS LIFE FOR HIS SHEEP."
(2 COR. 5:15) "AND HE DIED FOR ALL, THAT THOSE WHO
LIVE SHOULD LIVE NO LONGER FOR THEMSELVES, BUT FOR
HIM WHO DIED FOR THEM AND ROSE AGAIN."
