Lord, I cry in deprivation
Come, save me in my need,
I know You'll ease the anguish
To keep me where you live-
In heart and soul with You
To carry me o'er earth,
For life to have the meaning
Destined from my birth.
I thank You that Your cross
Brought the miracle of life,
For, there you took my death
And banished it from sight.
I didn't have the source of power
Until Your life was mine,
When You became my heart
And called me to divine.
I didn't know the glory
I would find within Yourself,
My personage and ways
Just lived by how I felt.
But when I cried, You held me
And saved me from myself.
You knew that I was drowning
As down and down I fell.
That's why You had to die
To replace the who I was,
With all You are and have-
You loved me on that cross

Poetry from The Heart
We try fruitlessly to
exercise control over self,
but once we see the truth
we recognize that we are
indeed powerless to do anything,
but that in setting
ourselves aside altogether -
God has done it all
Such discovery brings human striving
and self effort to an end.
