When the rain seems to pour
Without ceasing on me,
When my eyes are dimmed,
Barely able to see,
When the depths threaten
To swallow my soul,
When the pit opens
To consume me whole,
There You are, my Lord,
Holding out Your hand;
You carry me gently
To the Promised Land.
Neither floodwaters nor depths
Can threaten my life;
I do not fear any challenge,
Any storm, any strife.
I praise You, Lord Jesus,
For lifting me high;
You heard my prayer,
You answered my cry.
So today and every day
I shall sing Your praise;
My Jesus, You save,
You inspire, You amaze.
So when depths threaten
To swallow my soul,
When the pit opens
To consume me whole,
I know You will save,
You will redeem me,
And Your light, Your love,
Will be all I see.
