I watched two pretty butterflies
Playing in the air,
I thought them very lovely
As they fluttered everywhere.

I imagined they were you and I
Happy in their play,
And I wondered all the while
What secrets did they say.

Two best of friends together
In tune they beat their wings,
Intent upon togetherness
I wondered, did they sing.

In harmony they whirled and twirled
To where they sought to go,
Landing 'pon the wondrous flowers
Some nurturing to know.

Then up and off they gladly flew,
Another pathway in the air,
Doing as the Lord requires
His loveliness to share.

Then I thought of how our spirits
Play together in the sky,
If we're already in the heavens
That's where we always fly.
