There is a lovely place I see
So close, yet far away
I see it with my heart
And feel it every day

It lingers close beside me
And rests within my soul
It hovers on horizons
And in the hands I hold

I watch it in another
When there is joy to see
I hear it in the voices
That speak so lovingly

I marvel at its beauty
When it cries with life and light
From every pretty flower
That fills me with delight

I watch it in a baby
A baby born to be
Beautiful and precious
To live eternally

I know 'twas in the manger
When Jesus came that day
To live here, thus to die
And bear our sins away

Oh, I see it at Golgotha
Where He was lifted high
Bleeding there, held broken
For you and me to die

Yes, there it manifested
And cried, it is complete
When Jesus gave His life
So heaven and earth could meet

Poetry from the Heart

What gives us conviction of sin is not
the number of sins we have committed;
it is the sight of the holiness of God.
