~ How Do We Trust ~

What does it mean to trust in the Lord,
To know He will show us how life is reborn.
How do we trust and understand truth,
Truth that we crave from the day of our birth.

How is trust gained when we cannot see
The God to be trusted and ever believed.
From where does faith come to give us the hope
To keep us on pathways that we cannot know.

Is faith set within us, a thing that we make,
No, this we sure know, 'tis more that we doubt.
So, how can we trust that we will be led
To trust in the Lord, to ever be held.

Yes, that is the key, to WANT to be kept,
It's distrust in self, to know we're bereft.
It's only in turning from plans that we make
That will lead us to want Him and our way forsake.

His care is so great He calls us to come
To know of His will, to rest in His love.
It's realising weakness, in crying to Him,
That self is all gone and by Him we're filled.

Be aware of connections that keep us from God,
Sever the ties that we like to hold.
Work out misuses of things of this earth,
Flee from temptations that bring only hurt.

Trust, and release, let God have our heart,
Turn to the Lord, for all He'll impart.
It's only repentance that brings us to know
The faith that He gives each step of the road.

His Spirit will come, revealing God's truth,
Witness of Jesus and show Christ as true.
His faith is the way, He alone breaks the night,
Trust is the Saviour, His life is the light.

Poetry From The Heart

I am crucified with Christ, nevertheless I live;
yet not I, but Christ liveth in me.
And the life which I now live in the flesh,
I live by the faith of the Son of God,
who loved me and gave Himself for me.
~Gal 2:20~

"Do not let your hearts be troubled.
Trust in God ; trust also in me."
~John 14:1~
