~ Set Free ~

We are, none of us, more holy
None, more superbly great,
None, more righteous, pure-
Nor of more perfect state.

None of us are sweeter chosen
Nor made of better ilk,
God doesn't say one is good-
Because of lesser guilt.



But, He came to save
Those who know that they are wrong,
Those who admit the weakness-
And that they don't belong.

There is no short cut to glory
Nor a doing, wishing plan,
The Lord Jesus did it for us-
'Cause there is no good in man.



He always knew that He would die
To save us from our sin,
He made us so that we
Could have His life within.

For 'tis only God inside us
That makes us heaven bound,
'Tis only when we give ourselves to Him-
That our righteousness is found.



We can't pull up our socks
Nor try hard to be good,
For trying is but sinful pride-
Pure we can't be, if we would.

And oh, the gracious wonder
Of the gift our Saviour gives,
That He came to set us free-
So, in Him we'll always live.
