In 1954, President Eisenhower signed a bill
proclaiming November 11th. as Veterans Day,
and called upon Americans everywhere to
rededicate themselves to the cause of peace.
He issued a Presidential Order directing
the head of the Veterans Administration
to form a Veterans Day National Committee
to organize and oversee the
national observance of Veterans Day
Have I not commanded you?
Be strong and courageous.
Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged,
for the Lord your God will be with you
wherever you go.
Therefore, since we have been justified
through faith, we have peace with God
through our Lord Jesus Christ,
For who is God besides the Lord?
And who is the Rock except our God?
It is God who arms me with strength
and keeps my way secure.
The Lord gives strength to his people;
the Lord blesses his people with peace.
May the God of hope fill you with all
joy and peace as you trust in him,
so that you may overflow with hope
by the power of the Holy Spirit.
It was the veteran, who saluted our flag,
who served under our flag and who will
be remembered under our nation's flag.
Today we thank and honor our courageous
Veterans "Past, present and future"
Men and women who fought and died for the
idealism of liberty and freedom for all.
